I am from an old town house,
from jump ropes, and chalk.
I am from the water falls which turn into giant pools (a brilliant sky-blue, fluffy and light, it tasted like vanilla ice pops).
I am from the gardenia,
the fuzzy-leafed tree
Whose flowers are white with a crisp scent.
I'm from Tasmanian devils and soft blankets,
from Gordon and Stella.
I'm from the smart ass'
and the goody two shoes,
from being a party-pooper and little miss sunshine.
I'm from being like a fat kid with cake,
with a meaning behind it all.
I'm from Stacy and Gordon's Branch,
Steak and Shrimp.
From the lost parents and my great grandfather with "fighting chicken eyes,"
the small playground which was constantly played on,
but the color now fades with my childhood memories.
In my head is a great sea, an island, and two giant treasure chests;
One on land, and one lost in the ocean.
I am from those moments -- in that the sleeping and painful memories hide themselves beneath the great sea,
and the happy awake ones are on my island.
